This place is magic, as if everything the artist has ever imagined was real.
I have long been wanting to visit Casa San Miguel because of Pasilyo. I have always been fascinated at how the artist thought of each quirky piece of artwork in this place. We’ve even considered Pasilyo for our pre-nup shoot location, unfortunately, they were in the process of repairs then.
So one Sunday afternoon we went. It was magical. I sound exaggerating, but really it was, at least for me. A sucker of everything artsy and colorful that I am, Pasilyo overwhelmed my happy meter.
I examined each and every art piece in the garden and I cant help but smile as I say to myself, “How did she thought of that? Did she dreamed about this and made it real when she woke up?” “She must have colorful dreams and she made them real right outside her garden!”
Pasilyo is actually part of spouses Elmer Borlongan and Plet Bolipata’s residence inside Casa San Miguel in San Antonio, Zambales. The iconic blue outdoor door is I think what separates the garden from their private space.
I fell in love with their reading nook – an old kombi van! Book lovers are going to fall for this cozy little nook, for sure. They converted the inside of the van into a more homey yet still artsy atmosphere.
Everywhere you look in the garden bursts with creativity and inspiration. If you are right-brained (artistic), you would appreciate it here! The unusual combination of materials used to create each art piece here makes them all the more strange and weird in a very nice way. Here are some of them:
Beside Pasilyo is the Backstage Cafe which offers a variety of dishes on their menu.
On the other hand, Casa San Miguel (which I forgot to take a photo of) is owned by renowned concert violinist, Coke Bolipata. It is an academy for young musically inclined artists of San Antonio community and a center for the arts and culture. It also hosts bed & breakfast accommodations.
If you’re having a hard time finding inspiration for your art, maybe you could find it here. A weekend retreat here would be nice! Casa San Miguel Evangelista St., Brgy. San Miguel, San Antonio, Zambales.
